How I feel about Station
I wanted to make a post just explaining how important the old station application has become to my work flow. Station is such a fantastic browser and I love being able to have a separate browser just for things like communication (slack, my emails, facebook messenger, etc) as well as productivity stuff like Figma and Google Drive. I really like the old station and would hate to see it lose support. I only found out about the change in direction when trying to install Station on my laptop. Personally I'm not against trying the new station extension, but as an avid Station user I am concerned about this new direction. On an unrelated note, is there any way for me to install the old station browser on my laptop or is there no longer a download available for it?
Have a dark or night mode / allow custom themes in Station / change UI color / add CSS styling
Hi guys, Firstly, thanks for the product. As a developer and a productivity geek, I can use my favourite tools together in Station App. But I’m also a dark theme geek. I use almost every tools with dark theme option or I switch theme via Stylus and userstyles.org . If you can add some adding/importing CSS feature , I’d be really happy. At night, I have to use Chrome instead of Station because of these dark theme options. Again thanks for the great app, have a great process!
Integration with password managers (1password, Lastpass & Dashlane)
SUMMARY As a user I want to be able to log in easily in the web apps using my password manager (Dashlane, 1password, etc) so that I don’t have to copy paste the login and password every time I configure a new service. GIVE US CONTEXT (tell us about the current experience) When I configure a new service, I don’t know what login and password I used because in a browser, my password manager is automatically signing me in. PROVIDE DETAILS (tell us what you are looking to change) I’d like to have the same automatic/easy sign in experience than in the browser. DESCRIBE THE IMPACT (how would it change your experience) The main advantages for me are: Easier and faster to configure a new service No need to copy and paste the login and password from another app
Group apps together (in the dock) / stack apps in folders / categorize apps
Folders on the dock, to group apps together. And then maybe the folder would expand into a second dock where the different apps are shown like in the main dock. When I’m working without an external monitor, I have to scroll a lot in the dock (19 apps at the moment). And I really don’t like that. The scrolling part, but also don’t have an instant overview of all my apps. If I could group apps together that, for my workflow, are used together, I could bring back the overview and I won’t have to scroll in the dock. For example Tweetdeck, Facebook, Buffer are apps I use only when I’m doing a particular task. Even better would be that when the vertical space isn’t there, the apps would be grouped together in a folder or something. And when I’m on a big monitor, the apps would be normal in the dock, but maybe with a visual divider to show that the apps are actually grouped.
Show a badge with an unread notifications counter in Station's taskbar icon / Have a badge on the Station taskbar icon
It would nice have a notification on Desktop shown by a red point (or other color). I did a image to represent it.
Decrease resource usage
Please decrease the resource usage because in background it eats up 1 - 2 GB ram.
Split-Screen / paired apps / side by side windows
Due to the size of computer screens and the functionality of certain apps, it is common for me to pair two apps together with the macOS Split-Screen feature. Over time, this has shaped into a feature that guides my workflow drastically. I would love it if Station allowed two apps to be paired together into one UI selection so when I clicked on it, two apps would appear side-by-side. The left sidebar UI menu would simply show two half circles forming a single circle (split down the middle) in place of the normal circle used for app selection, where each half-circle is an app. My essential paired apps are: Todoist & Toggl Slack & WhatsApp (although Station treats each Slack team as a separate app, so this would no longer work) Mail & Calendar Do you also use and rely on the Split-Screen functionality? What are your paired apps? Lloyd
